Scaffold Stairs

Our scaffold stair systems, built from durable galvanised steel, provide safe internal and external access for residential, construction, industrial, and commercial projects. Replacing ladders, they integrate seamlessly into your scaffolding or building project with landings, steps, and easy entry/exit points for multi-level work. For your specific access needs, choose the Ranger stairs for lightweight, portable, standalone use; the HAKI staircase for quick modular system integration; the prefabricated access stair system for heavy-duty, high-load heights; or the scaffold tube and fittings stairway for economical, custom, traditional stairs.

FAQ's

Scaffold stairs provide a more spacious and safer access solution compared to traditional ladders for workers and their materials. Typically incorporated into scaffolding structures, they can also be built as standalone units to allow multiple access points to buildings and other elevated structures. Scaffold stairs improve climbing safety and avoid the space limitations imposed by ladders.

Scaffold stairs are safer than ladders, as they provide a wider surface and handrails; however, ladders can also be safe when used correctly.

They can also be known as stretcher stairs, stairway scaffolds or scaffold stair towers.

The benefits of a scaffold staircase system are substantial:

  • They significantly reduce the risk of falls and injuries.
  • Scaffold staircases are much safer when carrying materials to elevated heights.
  • They offer improved accessibility for people of all abilities.
  • Scaffold stair systems demonstrate outstanding robustness, durability, and versatility.
  • They provide a high load-bearing capacity.
  • Scaffolding stairs allow for simple customisation in length and size whilst enabling swift system erection and dismantling.
  • They provide enhanced compliance with safety regulations.
  • They offer the safety of a non-combustible material suitable for challenging environments.

We offer Haki staircases, Layher systems, prefabricated stairs and traditional steel tube and fitting stairs for installation, dismantling, hire, or purchase.

For optimal safety and user comfort, scaffold staircases should be installed at an angle of roughly 27 degrees. However, a scaffold stair specialist should always be consulted for each specific project.

This depends on the type of scaffold stairs. If you are using a Haki stair tower, it can be installed to a height of 50 metres or more. Additionally, traditional steel tube and fitting stairs can be erected at any height. However, a design will usually be required for taller staircases.

Scaffolding staircases are utilised across a range of settings, including shipyards, construction sites, chemical plants, oil and gas projects, energy generation facilities, factories, large infrastructure projects, accessing portakabins on building sites, temporary bridge construction, arenas, stadiums, and significant public events, external fire escapes, blocks of flats, residential properties and building facades for roof access.

The fundamental difference between these staircase types is their composition. System scaffold stairs are assembled using prefabricated components. In contrast, traditional steel tube and fitting staircases are constructed solely from individual tubes, fittings, boards, and steel stair treads.
