What is Heras fencing?
Heras is a comprehensive temporary fencing system consisting of mesh panels, bases (feet), secure clips, and optional braces. It is designed for use in site security, crowd management, and public safety applications.
Are your panels genuine Heras or compatible with them?
We supply both Heras and Heras-compatible panels, both made to BS EN 13374 specifications and galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461.
How quickly can Heras be installed?
Two people can install up to 100 linear metres of fencing per hour on flat ground. Panels slot into the blocks, are secured with couplers tightened by a spanner, and braces are added every 4–6 panels in high-wind areas.
What is the wind loading capacity?
Standard panels can withstand wind gusts of up to approximately 70 mph (110 km/h) when braced at intervals of 3.5 m and weighted with 30 kg blocks. For exposed or high-wind sites, site-specific calculations in accordance with BS EN 1991-1-4 are recommended.
Is Heras anti-climb?
The 2 m panel height and small mesh apertures help deter climbing. For high-security sites, anti-climb extensions (curved or spiked tops) and anti-lift brackets can be fitted.
Which ground conditions are suitable?
Heras fencing can be installed on grass, gravel, tarmac, or concrete surfaces. On softer ground, larger base plates or stabilisers with ground pins help prevent subsidence, while on more complex surfaces, rubber blocks protect against surface damage.
How long is this fencing permitted to stay installed?
They are designed for temporary use, meaning they should be installed for a limited time only, from a few days for events to several months or more for construction projects. The galvanised panels have a service life of over 10 years when maintained appropriately. For extended use, conduct monthly inspections to check for corrosion, damage, or instability.
Which maintenance procedures are necessary?
Conduct weekly visual inspections to identify loose clips, misaligned panels, or any signs of damage. If required, clean the debris netting as needed. Promptly replace any damaged panels to maintain system integrity.
Is Heras fencing suitable for indoor use?
Yes, this product is appropriate for indoor use. It is frequently utilised as a temporary barrier in indoor environments, serving purposes such as crowd management, site demarcation, warehouse segregation, or event zoning.
