Decked Area with Used Scaffolding Boards in Goring

Our current stock of reclaimed boards was in excellent condition, and when we delivered these to our customer, we loaded extra on the truck so they could sort through and pick the best boards to suit their requirements.

DIY build

This customer used the reclaimed timber scaffolding boards to create a wooden decked area in their garden. As usual, the great British weather prevented them from starting their project on time, so when it was a little drier, they first prepped the boards and removed all of the metal end bands as they were not needed; these came off very quickly by using the claw end of a hammer to ease the metal away from the timber. Then, they dug out the area where they were building the deck. A timber frame was fixed to the floor, and upright posts were cemented into the ground. Once the posts were dry and the timber frame was complete, our customer secured the boards to the frame using standard timber screws and an electric screwdriver. The decking was not a standard square design; it would have a curved edge once complete. To achieve this, some boards were cut to shorter lengths. When all the timber boards were secured, a skill saw was used to cut the curved edges, and a sander was used to smooth them. This decked area was a lovely addition to their garden.
