Our Supadeck plastic scaffold boards are made from recycled polymer composites and conform to BS2482 and TG20 standards. They are much lighter to handle than traditional timber scaffolding boards, while each plastic board has a standard width of 225mm and a thickness of 45mm. Suitable for use on traditional tubular structures, scaffolding systems and builder’s trestles.

Can plastic scaffold boards replace timber ones?
Yes, you can choose to use the 3.9m supadeck board instead of traditional wooden boards, as it is just as safe as timber. They are also easier to handle and much lighter, weighing only 16kg, whereas a 13ft timber board weighs approximately 20kg. Plastic boards are easy to clean and maintain, and generally have a longer lifespan as they do not degrade or warp. Plus, they can be used for many applications beyond scaffolding.
What are plastic supadeck boards made from?
They are manufactured from a polypropylene thermoplastic elastomer, a fatigue-resistant plastic sheeting that combines rubber and polypropylene. The rubber content makes the material heat-resistant. The outer layer is also UV-stabilised, protecting the board from long-term UV exposure by blocking UV radiation and preventing damage.
Are plastic scaffolding boards safe?
Yes, plastic is a very safe and strong material, has been rigorously tested, and adheres to all safety standards, including TG20 and BS2482.
What is the maximum load span of a plastic scaffolding board?
For a 13ft supadeck board, the maximum load span is 1.5m. Each length must have at least 4 intermediate transoms for support. The maximum service load is 4 kN/m2. These plastic boards should always be connected to the framework using board retaining clips.
How do I maintain a plastic scaffold board?
They are much harder than timber planks because they do not deteriorate from exposure to the elements, so they do not rot or warp. However, they can get damaged from misuse, so they must be inspected regularly for the following:
- Cracks or punctures.
- Worn away surfaces.
- Cuts.
- Notches.
- The end caps are securely fixed.
To avoid damage, please try to refrain from the following:
- Exceeding the maximum allowed span and service load.
- Do not drop from a height.
- Do not jump on them.
- Try not to drop heavy items onto the boards.
- Do not over-tighten the board retaining couplers.
