Scaffold Tubes for Tree Supports in Henfield
A garden design and construction company based in Ferring, West Sussex, sent us a price request for some steel scaffold tubes required for a client project in Henfield. We provided a quotation for 12 x brand-new 8ft galvanised steel scaffolding tubes, including transportation to BN5. Once we had sent our quote, the customer wanted to proceed with the order and have it delivered as soon as possible. Our next available delivery slot was within 3 working days, which our customer was happy with. We raised an invoice and booked the delivery for the agreed date.
The only 8ft tubes we had available at that time had a thickness of 3.2mm, so we had to clarify with our customer that this would be suitable for their project, to which they responded that it was fine. The 3.2mm-thick tubes are high-yield, making them as strong, if not more robust, than the standard 4.0mm-thick tubes. They are suitable for use on all types of scaffolds and can be connected using standard scaffold fittings and couplers.
The installation process
Our customer would use these 8ft steel scaffold tubes (2.4 metres) to support the wire of newly planted pleached trees, which are trees trained to form a privacy screen of foliage on one straight stem, with the stem reaching around 1.8 to 2.2 metres tall, whilst the height of the hedging can get approximately 3 metres high. They are planted in rows at a set distance, and once fully grown, they create a fantastic-looking, elevated “green wall” effect. This is an ideal natural option compared to high fencing.
What our customer did – First, they dug a hole for the 8ft scaffold tube, placed it in the ground, and then covered the area with cement. Once it had completely dried, the tube was securely fixed in place, and the rest of the scaffold tube was installed in the same way, keeping a minimum distance of approximately a metre between each pole. Then, they were ready to attach the wiring to the poles and plant the trees. Once the pleached trees have fully formed, privacy will be created along this side of the tennis courts.
