A marquee and events company, Original Tents and Events Ltd, based in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, placed an order with us to purchase a selection of scaffolding materials to build an indoor storage rack for their equipment.
We provided this customer with a quotation for the following brand-new scaffolding materials: 12 x 21ft (6.4m) galvanised scaffold tubes, 50 x pressed steel double couplers, 50 x pressed steel single couplers, 25 x pressed steel swivel clamps and 9 x scaffolding base plates for the structure’s feet.
Build details
The rack was a tall, boxy rectangle with six square shelves, providing room at the top and bottom for additional storage of their items, safely packed and stored away until their subsequent use. The 6.4m scaffold tubes were cut to shorter lengths to create the racking system. The base plates were placed on timber boards to prevent the floor from getting damaged by the unit’s weight. They began the build by inserting 9 vertical tubes into each base plate, which were then secured to shorter horizontal tubes, 8 along the back and 8 along the front; these lengths were connected using double couplers.
The sides also had shorter tubes attached, with 5 tubes from top to bottom on either side and 4 in the centre of the framework, which were fixed using the single couplers. To increase stability, two diagonal poles were attached to the front and back corners of the racking structure, corner to corner, using 3 swivel couplers to connect them to the vertical tubes at the top, middle, and bottom. This created 8 cube-shaped spaces for our customer to rest their tent and marquee equipment, with space on the top of the structure if required.
